SEATTLE SEAHAWKS COACH OF THE WEEK
The WSFCA "Seattle Seahawks Coach of the Week" criteria is as follows.
Must be a member of the Washington State Football Coaches Association
A member football coach may be nominated and selected for:
- a win that supports WSFCA standards of fair play, sportsmanship, and safe competition
- significant victory in League, District or State play
- recognition of a major career win
The WSFCA "Seattle Seahawks Coach of the Year" is selected following the State Championships and represents the above criteria. |

Jason Ronquillo: Yelm
Coach Ronquillo and the Yelm Tornadoes secured its first state football title with a 20-13 victory over Eastside Catholic in the WIAA 3A championship game. Senior Kyle Ronquillo made the play of a lifetime by ripping away an intercepted ball from an Eastside Catholic defender and scampering to the end zone for the winning touchdown with under a minute remaing in the game. Yelm beat a formidable Bellevue team in a semifinal contest before meeting Eastside Catholic in the championship game. Winning back to back games against two perennial football powers, the Yelm Tornadoes have indeed earned their place in history as the 2022 WIAA 3A Football Champions and congratulations to head coach Jason Ronquillo for being voted as the 2022 WSFCA Seattle Seahawk Coach of the Year!

Reggie Witherspoon - Garfield High School:
The Garfield Bulldogs pulled off a 26-16 win over the 4A #1 ranked Lake Stevens Vikings in the Memorial Kickoff Classic. Coach Witherspoon has been the head coach of the Garfield Bulldogs since 2019, leading the way to become a force in the Metro conference. A big win to start off the year for the Bulldogs and much of the success can be attributed to Coach Witherspoon. |

Craig Bartl - Nooksack Valley High School:
The Nooksack Valley Pioneers had a 15-14 victory over the Mountain View Thunder in the first game of the season. Big win for a 1A school over a 3A opponent. Strong showing for the Pioneers and great job preparing the team by Coach Bartl and his staff. |

Jason Ronquillo - Yelm:
Another big win, this time 46-6 over an always strong Union squad. Coach Ronquillo has the Yelm Tornados off to a great start with two decisive wins over strong 4A opponents. The Tornados have been a perennial playoff team in the 3A conference under Coach Ranquillo's leadership and looking to continue the success this year. |

Erick Judd - Okanogan:
Beat Selah 57-7. Players are extremely physical and very well coached. Always at the top of the 2B state. Coach Judd consistently has a well prepared, disciplined football team that gives tremendous effort on the field. Coach Judd has the Okanogan Bulldogs off to a great start! |

Adam Schakel - Emerald Ridge:
The Emerald Ridge Jaguars improve to 2-1 after a big win on the road against a very good Sumner Spartan football team. The Jaguars had a solid second half and used a versatile passing attack for the victory. Coach Schakel and the coaching staff have done a phenomenal job at Emerald Ridge. The players are well coached and play with great effort and passion. Good luck to Coach Schakel and the Emerald Ridge Jaguars the rest of the season. |

Doug Bilodeau - Fort Vancouver:
First win since 2019. Huge comeback win and great for the Fort Vancouver community! Coach Bilodeau took over the program in 2020 and has done an incredible job.

Torrey Meyers – North Creek:
North Creek beat Bothell on the road 21-14 for the first time in program history in an inter-district rivalry game. Coach Meyers has built a strong program in a short period of time. Good luck to Coach Meyers, his coaching staff and players the rest of the season. |

Greg Terpstra - Lynden Christian:
First year head coach helped his alma-mater Lynden Christian hand Royal a home loss 21-14. It was the first loss at home for the Royal Knights in 11 years. Lynden Christain is now 4-0 and in a prime position for a league title. |

Jeff Scoma - Stanwood:
Huge 37-6 victory over rival Arlington to win the Stilly Cup for the first time in over a decade. The Stanwood Spartans improved to 5-0 this season. Last season the Spartans advanced to the state round of 16 teams in the 3A playoffs in Coach Scoma's first season. Big program turn around in 2 years and continued success to the Spartans the rest of the season. |

Dan Hill - WF West:
Big win over league/state power Tumwater their first over Tumwater in over a decade. The Bearcats improved to 4-1 (3-0 in league). Coach Hill has the Bearcats rolling this season and in first place in their league. WF West has had much success under Coach Hill's leadership with the team playing disciplined football with extreme effort. |

Terry Cloer - Mt. Spokane:
Remaining undefeated in league, the Wildcats posted a big overtime win over Central Valley. They are 5-0 in league and 5-1 overall with their only loss coming at the hands of Post Falls of Idaho. Coach Cloer has Mt. Spokane established as a perennial playoff contender. The team always plays with tremendous effort and discipline. |

Justin Portz - Anacortes:
The Seahawks go to 6-0 with a 34-28 win over Sehome maintaining a tie with Lynden in a very tough 2A Northwest Conference showdown. Coach Portz has had much success as the Head Football Coach of the Seahawks with the team going 9-1 last season. Great start for Anacortes this year and looking to make a deep playoff run! |

Jack Hathaway - Camas:
Down by 19 to Skyview early in the 4th quarter, Camas rallied to score 22 points in the 4th quarter and defeat the Storm 36-33. Coach Hathaway has done a great job with Papermakers since taking over for Coach Eagle a season ago. Camas is incredibly well coached and the players give tremendous effort. |

Josh Fluke - Pe Ell-Willapa Valley:
Big upset Saturday beating #3 ranked and undefeated Raymond-South Bend, 24-14. This really shakes up the league standings. Coach Fluke has done an outstanding job with the Titans football program!

Matt Johnson - Southridge:
Knocked off league rival and last years' state runner up Kennewick in exciting fashion 38-37. Coach Johnson has turned around the Suns program with a 5-3 record. Two of their losses were by a point to 4A perennial state contenders Richland and Chiawana. Congratulations to Coach Johnson and his staff for the success this season and good luck. |

Patrick Mitchell - Ephrata:
With a 20-17 victory, the Tigers bested highly ranked Prosser. Ephrata has now won 3 games in a row to set up a run at the playoffs. Coach Mitchell and his staff have done an outstanding job with the Tiger football team. The players have tremendous discipline and passion for the game. |

Elijah Ruhl - Kentridge:
Big win against rival Kentwood. Supposedly the last win for KR vs KW was 30 years ago. The win put them in the week 10 playoffs and gave them a winning record for the season. Also, Elijah coached the Cleats vs. Cancer game last season and is very actively involved in Washington State football!

Deontae Cooper - Highline:
Coach Cooper has the Pirates at 8-1 with their only loss coming at the hands of Kennedy Catholic. The Pirates defense has dominated opponents this season posting 6 shutouts! Deontae and his staff have done a phenomenal job rebuilding the Highline football program. |

Scott Bond - Chiawana:
Opened the round of 32 team playoffs with a shutout of West Valley. They are the only undefeated 4A team in the state and are the #1 seed. Scott has Chiawana primed for a deep playoff run in this year's state tournament.

Mark Gunderson - Enumclaw:
10-0 season ranked #2 in 2A rankings, Mark has built a competitive program. The Hornets have had an incredible regular season and are looking for a great postseason run. |
